Location 110 Preston Executive Drive,Cary, NC, 27513,United States Base Pay $19.00 - $21.00 / Hour Job Summary: Assist the Mohs Surgeon in patient care and surgical cases by preparing rooms, triaging patients, prepping the patient for surgery, assisting the provider with surgical procedures, scribing in EMR, patient wound care and education. Maintain and uphold established patient care standards, operational processes, and company policies. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent Certified Medical Assistant, Associate’s degree, Nursing licensure or higher is preferred Mohs and/or surgical experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with EMR systems and/or ability to train effectively on EMR system Consistent professional conduct with patients, staff and public Meticulous attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to maintain accurate records Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients, medical assistants, physicians/mid-levels, and other staff Strong communication, problem-solving, planning and organizational skills Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology and abbreviations Environmental/working Conditions: Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds dead weight depending on the individual’s work assignments on a daily basis Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach above shoulders depending on the individual’s work assignments on a daily basis Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, a minimum of eight hours a day, depending on the individual’s work assignments on a daily basis Ability to see, hear, speak, interact, read, write, and type sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position Must be independently mobile on all surfaces and situations depending on the individual’s works assignments on a daily basis and be able to move safely about the work area Must be able to respond to emergency situations as needed, including lifting ability needed for patient safety Must have bilateral use of hands for repetitive fine manipulation Must have the physical stamina to work at least eight hours per day Essential Job Functions: Prepares patient for surgical procedures including obtaining vital signs, preparing surgical paperwork, explaining the procedure to patient, obtaining consent form from patient Set up surgical rooms for appropriate procedures and ensure all instruments and supplies are available for the surgical procedure Assists Mohs Surgeon in the following appointment types, physical examinations, wound checks and surgical procedures Administers anesthesia as needed prior and throughout the surgical procedures Provides postoperative wound care instructions to patient and family members and provides prescriptions as needed Sterilizes instruments and documents properly Maintains clean, safe, and well stocked examination rooms and surgical suites for patient’s care at all times Cleaning and stocking of patient examination rooms, prepare surgical packs for procedures as needed Administrative duties such as returning patient calls, sending out “Thank You” letters, reviewing EMA Path log to ensure completeness Responsible for ensuring excellent customer service is always provided to patients Ensure staff morale remains positive and is supportive of changes within the Clinic Perform other necessary duties as assigned to meet the goal of providing quality health care services and improving clinical workflow Maintains a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA Job may require travel to other locations as staffing needs may arise Work is performed in a medical office environment. Work involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times.
