Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of acute care OR experience and BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

• Work in the Operating Room department of a hospital environment
• Handles Tier 4 General Surgery and Tier 5 cases including kidney transplant, pancreas transplant, and organ procurements
• Performs HIPEC, Whipple, trauma, colectomy, burn, laparoscopic, Da Vinci Xi robotic, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy procedures
• Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 9:40 AM to 10:10 PM
• 17-week assignment length
• Epic charting system experience required
• Floating required as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), AHA only
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the OR specialty
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I or Level II experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with a broad range of surgical specialties including general surgery, gynecology, trauma, transplant, and robotic-assisted procedures preferred
• Must pass a cardiac rhythm interpretation exam with strict passing criteria prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery, transplant, trauma, gynecology, plastics, ENT, thoracic, urology, and bariatrics
• Utilize specialized equipment including cell savers, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
• Follow infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, and Universal Protocol (time-out) procedures
• Located at a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and recognized as a leading teaching institution and referral center
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
