Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ER experience required License: Active Michigan Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA) Must-Have: - 2+ years of ER experience - Travel experience preferred - Epic experience preferred Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) functions primarily in direct patient care. This position triages patients, obtains patient history and vital signs, and assesses patients. Acts independently to initiate immediate care in life-threatening situations in the absence of a physician. Provides care for both acutely ill and non-acute patients. Performs multiple procedures utilizing complex and simple nursing skills and assists the physician with their procedures. Provides comfort, both physical and psychological, to patients, their families, and visitors. Gives discharge and follow-up instructions to patients and families. Responds to ambulance radios and gives appropriate orders for pre-hospital care without assistance. Works with various types of sophisticated equipment and handles various types of patients in a frequently stressful environment. Performs nursing assessments, intervenes appropriately and promptly, and participates in care planning. Regularly assesses patient needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice. Processes physician/provider orders accurately, completely, and in a timely manner and follows up regarding medication changes and order clarifications. Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plans and makes suggestions or facilitates changes to improve patient care. Actively participates in updating and revising treatment plans in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information.
