CT Technologist (Computed Tomography)

Radiology Technician Position

Unit: Radiology

Types of Staff: Rad Techs (with and without CT experience), U/S Techs, Mammography Techs

Certifications: BLS & ARRT, State of CA certification for Rad Techs, ARDMS for U/S Techs, State of CA certification for Mammography Techs

Workload: Patients scheduled 1 per hour to accommodate inpatients and ER patients

EMR: Cerner

Radiology Management Team: Coordinator, Manager, Supervisor

Number of Staff Scheduled per 24 hours: Typically 15 Radiology techs

Schedules: 8-hour shifts expected

Weekend Requirement/Call: Proficient CT Rad Techs could be scheduled at 7a or 3p. General Rad Techs could be scheduled at 11a. U/S Techs work half shift on Saturday am; could be on standby/call for the weekend if approved by radiologist

Holidays: Covered by call

Scrub Color: Hospital will provide scrubs

Radiologist: On-site or on call depending on work

Floor Specific Orientation: U/S Tech: 1 week. Rad Tech without CT experience: 1 day with portables & 1 day in the OR. Rad Tech with CT experience: case by case. Mammo Tech: depends on experience & tomography training

Types of Equipment: CT uses Siemens equipment 64 slice & 128 slice. U/S uses Phillips equipment

Common Diagnosis/Types of Patients: All typical hospital patients (ER, OR, inpatient & outpatient)

Additional Notes: Basic Rad techs with Fluro permit for OR & routine work is preferred. Rad Techs who can also do CT & Mammography & are certified through the State of CA is a huge plus. Advanced certification is a plus but not required. Venipuncture experience is a plus but not required. Someone with a lot of OR experience is desirable. Mammography Tech with tomography training is preferred
