Patient Services Specialist

Patient Service Specialist Mercy Hospital South – Physicians Office Center 10012 Kennerly Rd, Suite #204 – St. Louis, MO 63128 As a Patient Service Specialist, you’ll play an important role in creating a smooth, positive experience for patients while supporting daily clinic operations. In this role, you’ll not only manage scheduling and front-end processes, but also help support your team by sharing knowledge, leading daily huddles, and identifying opportunities to improve workflows. You’ll work closely with pre‑certification teams and stay up to date on payer requirements to ensure accuracy and efficiency across the clinic. Position Details: Key Responsibilities Coordinate patient scheduling, registration, and insurance verification Support and mentor other Patient Service Specialists Assist with daily team huddles and workflow improvements Collaborate with pre‑certification teams to ensure payer alignment Stay up to date on process changes and system updates Communicate updates and support a positive team environment Help maintain efficient, patient‑focused clinic operations Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent Skills & Abilities: Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, typing) Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to interact professionally with patients and team members Knowledge of medical terminology Experience with scheduling, insurance verification, and referrals Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask Preferred Qualifications Experience: 2+ years in scheduling, insurance verification, or prior authorization Additional Skills: Epic (RC/EMR) experience preferred Knowledge of ICD‑10, insurance processes, or self‑pay collections Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Prolonged standing and walking Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and move throughout the day Why Mercy?
