Manhattan Psychiatric Center (MPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission-accredited facility, is recruiting a Certified Peer Specialist or a Peer Specialist to join their Transition to Home Unit (THU) team. The THU team provides a multi-disciplinary approach to care for individuals who have a history of homelessness. The goals of the THU team are to develop personalized treatment plans for active rehabilitation and reintegration to the community. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with pass days of Saturday/Sunday.

As a Peer Specialist , you will support the recovery and wellness of individuals in the THU. Responsibilities include:

• Leading peer support groups and lessons based on recovery principles
• Sharing progress updates with the treatment team
• Promoting a safe, supportive, and respectful environment
• Documenting participation and progress in the internal electronic client database
• Representing the peer perspective in team and facility meetings

As a Certified Peer Specialist , you will support the recovery and wellness of individuals in the THU. Responsibilities include:

• Leading peer support groups and lessons based on recovery principles

• Promoting a safe, supportive, and respectful environment
• Documenting participation and progress in the internal electronic client database
• Representing the peer perspective in team and facility meetings
• Training non-certified Peer Specialist staff

Peer Specialist Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of experience participating in mental health self-help activities, peer support or advocacy programs, or similar organizations.

Salary: $42,641-52,413

Certified Peer Specialist Minimum Qualifications:

Must have current certification as a New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) by the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB).

Salary: $47,695 - $58,447
