Medical Assistant 3The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Ortho Sports Medicine is currently seeking a full time Medical Assistant 3 to work in Plantation, FL. The Medical Assistant (MA) 3 will perform multi-skilled tasks to assist the medical providers. The MA 3 shall assist patients' healthcare management and clinical procedures in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service. The MA 3 provides hands-on care to patients while adhering to regulatory requirements, standards of care, and institutional policies and procedures, under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. The physician in charge may delegate the tasks to oversee the MA 3 to a Nurse or Designee in charge of the unit/clinic.Core Job Functions1. Incorporates protocols and standards of care into daily practice.8. Abides by the standards for ethical behavior, therapeutic communication and protecting the privacy of patient information.10. Assists providers with physical examinations by preparing treatment/exam room with proper supplies, instruments, and materials, as directed.11. Understands the importance of medical and surgical asepsis. Prepares patients for physician's care with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.12. Perform vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy, and document in patient's medical record.13. Cleans and/or sterilizes medical instruments while observing principles of sterile technique. Schedules patients for tests and completes required forms for laboratory work.14. Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation. Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies, and assists in performing clerical duties.15. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.16. Reasonable accommodations must be attained for the development of skills and competency.Maintain a weekly log of Uhealth medical assistants' assignments and a daily checklist of exam rooms being fully stocked with supplies that are needed for the orthopedic faculty to treat patients.The log should have the names of assigned medical assistants to the certain rooms that they are responsible for in the orthopedic unit.Provide the Sr. Practice manager with a weekly calendar of the staff that will be working in the specific unit to make sure that we have sufficient coverage.The Medical assistant 3 will be responsible for ordering and making sure we have sufficient stock of the medications such as lidocaine, synvosic, monovisc, PRP, celestone, dexamethasone, bupivacaine and kenalog for the orthopedic unit and pods.Also maintain the DME accurate log of the orthopedic DME that we have in stock.Enter the radiology x-ray charges.Order medical supplies from different vendors in workday.The medical assistant will also take used orthopedic tools up to the operating room to be sterilized by central sterilization team at Uhealth towers.The medical assistant 3 will also learn how to schedule and view appointments in Uchart to confirm patient's appointments.Also, will be responsible for training new employees that are hired in the role of medical assistants for the orthopedic department.Specific functions are competency based.
