Network Engineer

Work 3rd shift, 10-hour days, 4-day work weeks (Monday – Thursday nights). Summary The successful candidate will join the Network Edge Operations (NEO) team to deploy network fabric configuration and support the client’s strategic 5G direction. This role focuses on advanced configuration and operating system upgrades of carrier‑class Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia equipment that interconnect a nationwide, multivendor data network. The candidate will deploy network configurations overnight across U.S. time zones. Responsibilities Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance window changes with multiple teams with minimal supervision during the day and implement these changes during scheduled windows while adhering to corporate standards. Implement configuration changes for Intelligent Edge Networks, including deployment at Service Aggregation Points (SAP) and Transport Aggregation Points (TAP) to build and migrate 5G services. Deploy advanced IP (L2/L3) and routing configuration for the spine/leaf network using automated systems and Methods of Procedure (MOPs). Follow MOPs and/or automation workflows to prevent network‑impacting events. Take ownership of implementation work that requires rescheduling or updates and ensure successful re‑attempt and completion. Proactively manage your work schedule to prevent conflicts and reschedule promptly when issues or escalations occur. Submit suggested improvements for network implementation procedures to the engineering team. Work on network fabrics comprised of Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia routers. Leverage automation tools and processes for network configuration deployment. Utilize network monitoring tools during maintenance windows to verify all equipment functions per company standards and policies, before and after changes. Review MOPs and automated dry‑run outputs with the engineering team before any scheduled change to ensure accuracy. Demonstrate a strong ability to understand end‑to‑end call flows for deploying and troubleshooting network services. Clearly communicate ideas to lead change control windows and thoroughly test for any service‑impacting or elevated KPI issues during or after maintenance windows. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or five or more years of relevant work experience. Willingness to work 3rd shift, 10‑hour days, 4‑day work weeks (Monday – Thursday nights). Networking experience with IP Layer 1‑3 (IPv4/IPv6) and strong knowledge of VXLAN and/or fabric networking. Hands‑on experience deploying network configurations without service interruptions. Hands‑on experience deploying configuration for virtualized services. Extensive hands‑on experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and IS‑IS. Experience leveraging automated configuration tools to deploy networks. Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment. Cisco (CCIE or CCNP) or Nokia networking certifications. Payrate Base pay: $65.00 – $68.27 per hour. Non‑exempt positions are eligible for overtime at 1.5× the base rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer is determined by relevant skills, education, and experience.
