Med/Surg Registered Nurse - Full Time (36 hours) Contract Position

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

3 x 12-hour shifts (day/night) with variable scheduling, including on-call shifts and holidays.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies extensive knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and effective communication in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families. The RN assesses patient needs, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to develop a care plan, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and ensures comprehensive coordination of care throughout the patient's healthcare journey.

Responsibilities

• Apply nursing knowledge and skills in the delivery of care.
• Assess patient and family needs, creating age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members to set goals and monitor progress.
• Advocate for and protect the health, safety, and rights of patients.
• Provide patient and family education to encourage self-care and lifestyle changes post-hospitalization.
• Engage in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas for professional development.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention strategies and promote a Healing Environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active New York State RN Licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or RQI only)
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical environment as a Registered Nurse
