Outpatient Psychiatrist N Cobb

Position Overview

Wellstar Medical Group is seeking a skilled and compassionate Outpatient Psychiatrist to join the dynamic team at the North Cobb location. This is a full-time position where you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for adult patients with a wide range of mental health disorders.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, psychotherapy, or other therapeutic interventions.
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring efficacy and side effects, and adjusting treatment as needed.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care physicians, to coordinate care and optimize outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes using Wellstar’s electronic medical record system (Epic).
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
• Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including risk assessment of patients with suicidal or homicidal ideation.
• Offer psychiatric consultations to other medical professionals within the Wellstar system on complex cases.
• Participate in continuing education, attend conferences, and engage in peer consultations to stay current with advancements in psychiatry.
• Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards and Wellstar policies.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completed residency in Psychiatry from an accredited program.
• Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Georgia.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
• Prior experience in outpatient psychiatric care is preferred but not required.
• Strong clinical skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records (Epic experience preferred).
