Job Description

This role focuses on simple mechanical assembly and finishing of in-process units in a production environment. You will build metal box frames using hand and power tools, then complete box finishing by wrapping completed units in cardboard and preparing them for shipment. The position requires consistent standing, repetitive lifting, and the dexterity to work around and above the units while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Assemble rectangular metal components to form unit frames using hand and power tools.

• Perform box building by accurately aligning and securing metal pieces to create a stable frame.

• Complete box finishing by moving completed units on carts to the boxing area, wrapping them in cardboard, and stapling the boxes securely for shipment.

• Reach around units and work above head level to properly wrap and finish boxes, ensuring a neat and secure final product.

• Operate within a standard fabrication and assembly operation that includes laser cutting, deburring, brazing, and basic hand tool workstations.

• Move units on carts from area to area throughout the assembly process, following established workflows.

• Work safely at all times by using required personal protective equipment and following safety procedures.

• Maintain high quality standards in line with company expectations for workmanship and finished product.

• Stand for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks on the production floor.

• Lift and handle parts weighing 30–40 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.

• Collaborate with team members in both fabrication and assembly areas to keep production moving efficiently.

• Keep the work area organized and follow instructions from leads or supervisors regarding production priorities and processes.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in a job that required standing for at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

• Ability to repetitively lift 30–40 pound parts up to 50 or more times per day.

• Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used for mechanical assembly.

• Ownership of steel-toed or composite-toed protective shoes.

• Ability to work safely and maintain a high quality of work in line with established standards.

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working in an assembly, production, or general labor environment.

• Capability to perform heavy lifting and repetitive physical tasks.

• Experience working in warehouse, production, assembly line, machine operation, or general labor roles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience performing assembly work in a production environment.

• Comfort working in an organized but space-constrained assembly area.

• Ability to adapt to different workstations and tasks within a fabrication and assembly operation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a standard fabrication and assembly facility divided into fabrication and assembly areas. The fabrication area includes a large laser cutting machine, deburring stations, brazing stations, and workstations for basic hand tool tasks. The main production area is the assembly area, where units move on carts from station to station rather than on conveyors. The assembly area is organized but can feel somewhat cramped due to the size of the units. The facility is temperature controlled, although employees may still feel warm because protective arm sleeves are required. The position operates on two primary shifts: a first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and a second shift from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., both with mandatory overtime on Fridays as needed. Personal protective equipment is strictly enforced throughout the plant: employees must wear their own steel-toed shoes, as well as company-provided safety glasses, protective cut sleeves, and cut-resistant gloves. The dress code requires cotton, canvas, or denim pants worn at the waist and belted if needed; sweatpants, spandex, and nylon pants are not permitted. Hoods may not be worn over the head while working. Overall, the environment emphasizes safety, structure, and consistent production processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Noblesville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
