Job Details Job Location: Community Health Improvement Center - Decatur, IL 62521 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: Certification Salary Range: $16.50 - $22.00 Hourly Job Category: Health Care Job Summary The Certified Medical Assistant assists providers and nurses with patient care, initiates patient flow, maintains the environmental areas of the clinic and examination rooms and assists with telephoning and filing. Supervisory Responsibilities none Duties/Responsibilities Assist patients to exam rooms Obtains vital signs Obtains, evaluates, and record’s patient history as per protocols Admits patients, takes height, weight, blood pressure and other measurements as applicable Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control Assists with examinations, procedures and treatments Assists patients to examination rooms, lab and restrooms Collects and process specimens Complies with established risk management and safety procedures Complies with quality assurance practices Maintains examination/treatment rooms, including inventory of supplies and equipment Maintains medication and immunization records Makes appointments and schedules referrals as directed Makes copies and faxes documents as requested Makes correct entries in patient charts and checks appointment dates Manages the care of patients in collaboration with other health professionals and members of the healthcare team in order to make decisions about treatment and attain health goals Performs CLIA-waived tests Administers meds as under license Performs electrocardiography and respiratory testing Performs phlebotomy, including venipuncture and capillary puncture Performs quality assurance on glucometers Practices Standard Precautions, including hand washing and disposal of bio-hazardous materials Prepares and administer oral and parenteral medications Prepares patient for examinations, procedures and treatments; obtains any authorizations for procedure and/or treatment, if required Receives, organizes, prioritizes, stores and maintains transmittable information utilizing electronic technology Recognizes and responds to emergencies Serves as “communication liaison” between the provider and patient Performs other duties of a MA as required Restocks and straightens exam rooms Competencies Ability to follow established procedures and maintain high level of organization Ability to learn reasonably quickly Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to multi-task Ability to relate to persons of various economic levels and cultures Ability to remain relaxed and calm under stressful situations Ability to speak and write fluently in English; Spanish desirable Ability to work independently and cooperatively Above average level of interest in working with people and data Cooperative and non-competitive attitude with ability to take initiative Demonstrates integrity, professionalism and superior customer service skills while working in a fast-paced, moderately stressful environment High proficiency in nursing procedures and use of medical equipment appropriate to the job Patient and staff friendly with excellent communication skills Proficiency in use of telephone system, computer, and basic office equipment Working knowledge of adult and/or pediatric nursing and medications Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent CPR certified Successful completion of a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required Training verification as a MA required Successful completion of testing preferred Two (2) years of successful experience in a clinical setting preferred Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to deliver medical services and use equipment. Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or other potential hazardous materials Fine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skills Moderate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.) #J-18808-Ljbffr
