BOYS’ VARSITY SPRING TRACK & FIELD COACH Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, New Bedford, Massachusetts Job Description Assistant/A senior‑level coach responsible for leading the boys’ spring track & field program, fostering athletic performance, character development, and a safe sporting environment. Special Knowledge / Skills Experience or desire to work in a diverse school district Advanced knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures Knowledge of MIAA rules Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow and maintain knowledge of all district policies and procedures Support the success of all GNBVT sports programs Assist instruction and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in boys spring track & field Manage and supervise athletic activities, fundraisers, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship Support the athletic department’s character development initiatives within our student‑athletes Travel with student athletes on the team bus to and from meets Maintain necessary records and complete required paperwork in a timely manner for themselves and assistant coaches Enforce discipline policies and emphasize sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles Supervise students in locker rooms after practices and at home/away games to ensure appropriate behavior Maintain a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times Work with the athletic trainer to ensure that medical and safety requirements are followed Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, assistant coaches, and officials and resolve conflict professionally Attend all required meetings, including pre‑season parent meeting, end‑of‑season awards night, and all league meetings for the boys spring track & field program Ensure that all assistant coaches work toward a common goal within the boys spring track & field program Complete end‑of‑season evaluations for all assistant coaches Work with the Coordinator of Athletics to maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program Appropriately maintain and secure confidential student records and inquiries Professionally represent the school and the district in interactions with students, parents, community, staff, and media Complete and maintain appropriate certifications as required, including MIAA coaches certification requirements Other duties may be assigned Job Requirements Citizenship, residency or work visa required Position Type Full‑time Salary $5,562 to $5,974 stipend EEO Statement Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical School District is an equal opportunity employer.
