Position Overview

Our organization is excited to announce an opportunity for a full-time, fellowship-trained Transplant Hepatologist to join our esteemed and expanding multidisciplinary liver transplant program. This position is available within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Department of Medicine, in collaboration with our Transplant Center. The academic rank for this role—Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor—will be determined based on the candidate's experience and academic achievements.

As one of the largest and most comprehensive transplant programs in the nation, our center fosters a collaborative atmosphere, featuring a high clinical volume, innovative research initiatives, and a strong commitment to education. The selected candidate will become part of a vibrant team of transplant hepatologists, surgeons, advanced practice providers, and various specialists dedicated to enhancing the care of patients with advanced liver conditions.

• Clinical Care:
  • Deliver both inpatient and outpatient care for individuals with general hepatic issues, advanced liver disease, and those undergoing liver transplants.
  • Engage in transplant hepatology clinical services across our healthcare facilities.
  • Participate in shared call coverage for transplant hepatology and provide care on the inpatient liver transplant service as well as the general hepatology consultation service.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and management of candidates and recipients for liver transplants.
• Academic and Program Development:
  • Hold an academic position within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at our Department of Medicine.
  • Engage in initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical quality, patient safety, and the growth of our Transplant Center.
  • Participate in clinical research, translational studies, quality improvement projects, and educational scholarship, tailored to the candidate’s interests.
• Education and Mentorship:
  • Contribute to the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
  • Support the academic mission through lectures, conferences, and clinical teaching.
• Program and Institutional Engagement:
  • Participate in multidisciplinary transplant selection conferences, morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review activities, and program committees.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of innovative clinical tools, technologies, and care pathways in transplant hepatology.

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Transplant Hepatology Fellowship
• Eligibility for or ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license in Georgia
• Eligibility for a DEA controlled substance registration

• Proven interest in clinical research, including clinical trials, quality improvement, education, or program development
• Experience with multidisciplinary transplant programs and live donor selection
