Ultrasound Technologist Iii

- POSITION PURPOSE
- Performs routine and special diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to departmental and hospital policies. Operates and maintains all sonographic and ancillary equipment; assists with providing 24 hours a day, seven days.
- MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Associate Degree: Graduate of an accredited certification program in Ultrasound Technology or Radiologic Technology
- MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 3 months - 1 year
- LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ultrasound III shall include American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registry in three or more disciplines: Abdominal, Obstetrics, Breast and/or Vascular.
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Minimum of three (3) months of full-time Sonographer experience or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language fluently.
- PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Operates ultrasound equipment associated with the performance of all ultrasound procedures, including portable, biopsies and emergency examinations. Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions.
- Follows ACR and department policies in order to maximize image view quality.
- Assists with department coverage, including on-call hours.
- Assists the Radiologists and physicians with biopsies and cyst aspirations. Sets upon the exam room and utilizes sterile techniques.
- Operates teleradiology and ancillary equipment.
- Schedules appointments and instructs patient with regard to preparation instructions.
- Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department.
