Job Description

You join a team from the world of research working to accelerate the energy transition for individuals. You work on one of the largest energy consumption datasets in Europe (more than 40 billion records) with a concrete objective: to make Hello Watt application users masters of their consumption by reducing their bills and environmental impact.

The Hello Watt application has more than 2 million downloads and more than 100,000 households engaged in energy flexibility across various markets (day-ahead, capacity, or intraday).

You collaborate closely with Product and Tech teams to accelerate the development of flexibility solutions.

Your Missions

You work on both scientific and operational issues marked by strong agility:

• You design algorithms capable of interacting with several energy markets to identify opportunities to relieve the electrical grid by piloting connected equipment (heat pumps, electric vehicles, batteries, solar panels).

• You develop robust production code. In an agile environment where market mechanisms evolve quickly, you participate in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our stack (Python, Clickhouse, ETLs).

• You participate in the evolution of our hybrid architecture (Proxmox servers and Clickhouse on-premise).

• You create real-time visualization tools to monitor our flexibility strategies and make data flows intelligible for business teams.

• You conduct analyses on major consumption trends to inform public debate and the challenges of the energy transition.

Profile Sought

• You hold a high-level Master's degree or a PhD (Engineer, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science) and at least 3 years of experience.

• You are fluent in French and English (spoken and written) which are the languages used in our team.

• You are proficient in Python and have written complex programs beyond notebooks. Beyond exploration, you are committed to transforming your models into reliable production tools.

• You are comfortable with massive volumes. Experience or interest in high-performance databases (Clickhouse, column-oriented databases) is desirable.

• You will alternate between research projects, prospective analysis, and operational and monitoring issues.

• You put your technical skills at the service of a societal project: the decarbonization of the electrical grid.
