divh2Licensed Practical Nurse/h2pThe Licensed Practical Nurse functions as a member of the health-care team by exercising sound nursing judgment. The LPN provides direct and indirect patient care for an assigned group of patients under the direction and supervision of the RN and according to the plan of care derived from physicians orders and Registered Nurse assessment. Nursing Care includes physical care, emotional support, and patient and family education./ppEssential Job Functions/pulliDelivers direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the Pennsylvania Practical Nurse Law, hospital policies, procedures, protocols and other professional standards of care./liliObserves, records and reports to the appropriate professional the symptoms, reaction and changes including general physical and mental condition of patients, and signs and symptoms which may be indicative of untoward changes; and stresses in human relationships between patients, between patients and personnel, and between patients and their families and visitors./liliPerforms nursing functions as defined in Pennsylvania regulations such as administration of medications, immunizations, and therapeutic treatments prescribed by the physician; preparation and care of patients receiving specialized treatments administered by the physician or the professional nurse./liliAssists with the rehabilitation of patients according to the medical care plan, being aware of and encouraging the interests and special aptitudes of patients./liliAssists in providing education for the provision and coordination of patient care activities that promote and maintain health, foster self-care and improve outcomes./liliMaintains a collaborative relationship with physicians and other health care providers to achieve desired patient outcomes and assure a continuous flow of patient care./liliParticipates in the unit performance improvement activities designed to enhance the quality of patient care and customer service./liliDemonstrates leadership by utilizing the concepts inherent to the practice of the professional nurse./liliAssists in the departments compliance with State, TJC, OSHA and other regulatory agencies./liliProvides for patient safety in compliance with hospital and nursing department policies./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpCompetency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]/ppRequired Qualifications/Experience/pulliGraduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing/liliZero to two years of experience in behavioral health/liliStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice./liliStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience./li/ulpPreferred Qualifications/Experience/pulliPrevious LPN experience/liliExperience in healthcare setting./li/ulpLicense, Certification Clearances/pulliCurrent licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania/liliCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program./liliAct 33 with renewal/liliAct 34 with renewal/liliAct 73 FBI Clearance/li/ulpPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work/pulliIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.)./liliTravel may be expected locally between System locations./li/ulpEqual Employment Opportunity/ppIndependence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
