Required Skills & Experience
- 5-7 years of experience with safety in construction environments\n- Holds OSHA 500 Certification\n- Travel to different locations is required, willing to use own vehicle (mileage & gas will be expensed)\n- Strong understanding of safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency response planning. \n- Ability to lead safety teams, conduct training sessions, and influence organizational culture.\n- Strong knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and waste management. \n- Ability to work extended hours and respond to emergencies as needed.

Job Description

Qualified candidates shall possess 4-7+ years of continuous experience in EH&S management in *construction* safety. Candidates would be covering construction sites in North Florida, specifically Gainesville, Tallahassee, and/or Jacksonville. This role requires oversight of environmental, health, and safety programs within an organization or construction project. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and minimizes environmental impact. The EH&S Manager is also tasked with reducing workplace accidents, enhancing employee health and safety, and ensuring environmental sustainability practices are followed. \n\nCandidate must possess a thorough understanding of the following core competencies as demonstrated by their knowledge and skills: \n\n· Hazard identification and control \n· Emergency preparedness and fire prevention \n· Safety program development and implementation \n· Leadership, communication, and training \n· Advanced sciences and math \n· Safety management systems \n· Ergonomics \n· Industrial hygiene and occupational health \n· Environmental management \n\nKey responsibilities:\n· Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs to comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, environmental laws, and regulations. \n· Ensure all company activities meet or exceed environmental, health, and safety requirements and standards.\n· Monitor and interpret regulatory changes to ensure the organization remains compliant with evolving laws and guidelines. \n· Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential safety hazards and environmental impacts. \n· Recommend improvements to reduce hazards, risks, and the environmental footprint. \n· Establish safety procedures and emergency response plans for various workplace incidents (fires, chemical spills, accidents). \n· Develop and conduct safety and environmental training programs for employees to promote safety awareness and proper safety practices. \n· Ensure all employees are trained on emergency procedures, hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling of materials. \n· Keep track of employee certifications and safety training schedules. \n· Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine their root causes and develop corrective actions. \n· Ensure timely reporting of incidents to regulatory authorities as required. \n· Maintain records of workplace injuries, incidents, and safety training for compliance and audits. \n· Develop and implement sustainable environmental practices, including waste management, recycling programs, and energy conservation efforts. \n· Promote environmentally friendly practices and ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations. \n· Oversee the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials and ensure proper waste management systems are in place. \n· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, procedures, and environmental controls. \n· Work with management to implement improvements based on audit results, incident trends, and employee feedback. \n· Stay updated with industry best practices and implement strategies to improve overall safety and environmental performance. \n· Maintain up-to-date documentation of safety audits, inspections, training, and incident reports. \n· Prepare and present regular reports to management on safety performance, incident trends, and compliance status. \n· Ensure all necessary records and documentation are prepared for regulatory inspections and audits. \n· Work closely with management and other departments to integrate EH&S practices into day-to-day operations. \n· Collaborate with external agencies, regulatory bodies, and contractors to ensure safety and environmental standards are maintained. \n· Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization. \n· Develop, implement, and oversee emergency response plans for various workplace scenarios. \n· Coordinate drills, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid training, to ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.
