Job Summary:

\n

Genesis Consulting is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support a large public-sector organization in strengthening enterprise resilience, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security architecture. Working closely with architecture leadership and technical teams, this individual will assess existing capabilities, define target-state architectures, and develop practical strategies to improve system availability, security, and recovery readiness across critical enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate combines broad infrastructure, security, and systems architecture experience with strong risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills. This role requires the ability to evaluate complex technical environments, align cross-functional teams, and translate technical risks and architecture options into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

\n

Duties and Responsibilities:

\n

\n

\n
• Lead disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity architecture initiatives, including planning for critical facilities and services such as 911 operations centers and backup sites.
\n
• Assess current disaster recovery capabilities, including recovery time objectives (RTOs), recovery point objectives (RPOs), existing DR plans, infrastructure dependencies, and operational risks.
\n
• Define target-state disaster recovery architectures and develop actionable recommendations to improve system availability, recovery capabilities, and business continuity.
\n
• Partner with security and network teams to define secure remote access, perimeter defense, and network security architecture patterns based on enterprise requirements, principles, and capabilities.
\n
• Collaborate with domain administrators and identity teams to evaluate and improve Active Directory and enterprise identity architecture.
\n
• Help establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability models (RACI) for the administration and support of core enterprise services.
\n
• Guide network segmentation strategies and support the retirement of legacy network overlays to strengthen security, simplify architecture, and improve resilience.
\n
• Work with application, database, infrastructure, and operations teams to improve enterprise observability, enabling earlier issue detection, more effective troubleshooting, and faster recovery.
\n
• Evaluate system dependencies, monitoring capabilities, recovery processes, and operational gaps that may affect service availability or incident response.
\n
• Identify architecture risks, resilience gaps, and opportunities to improve security, continuity, and recoverability across enterprise systems.
\n
• Facilitate technical discussions and collaborate across infrastructure, networking, security, identity, application, and database teams to align architecture decisions and implementation priorities.
\n
• Develop architecture documentation, target-state recommendations, risk assessments, and implementation roadmaps to support enterprise modernization and resilience initiatives.
\n
• Translate complex technical risks, recovery requirements, and architecture options into clear, actionable information for the CIO, senior leadership, and agency stakeholders.
\n
• Support architecture governance and decision-making by presenting alternatives, explaining trade-offs, and recommending solutions aligned with organizational priorities.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

\n

\n
• Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture, infrastructure architecture, security architecture, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
\n
• Experience designing, assessing, or improving disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities in complex enterprise environments.
\n
• Understanding of disaster recovery planning, including RTOs, RPOs, system dependencies, recovery strategies, and infrastructure resilience.
\n
• Experience evaluating infrastructure risks and defining target-state architectures or recommendations to improve availability and recoverability.
\n
• Knowledge of secure remote access, network security, perimeter defense, and network segmentation principles.
\n
• Experience with Active Directory, enterprise identity architecture, or identity and access management.
\n
• Ability to assess legacy infrastructure and recommend strategies to improve security, reduce complexity, and strengthen resilience.
\n
• Experience collaborating with application, database, infrastructure, network, and security teams to address cross-system dependencies and operational challenges.
\n
• Familiarity with observability, enterprise monitoring, incident detection, and troubleshooting capabilities.
\n
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate technical risks, compare architecture options, and develop practical recommendations.
\n
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and risks to executive leadership and nontechnical audiences.
\n
• Ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions, build consensus, and align technical recommendations with business and operational priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Experience supporting public-sector organizations or other environments with mission-critical services and high availability requirements.
\n
• Experience supporting critical facilities or services, such as emergency communications, 911 operations, or disaster recovery sites.
\n
• Experience developing enterprise security, identity, network resilience, or business continuity roadmaps.
\n
• Experience with enterprise architecture governance, risk management, and technical standards.
\n
• Relevant certifications in enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, networking, cloud infrastructure, or disaster recovery are desirable.

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
