The job of Classroom Teacher is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Responsibilities include creating daily lesson plans, aligned slide decks, Demonstrations of Learning (DoLs), formative and summative assessments, and intervention supports aligned to district instructional expectations and Louisiana standards. The position collaborates with district leaders, content teams, and school-based staff to ensure coherent curriculum implementation that improves student outcomes.
Other duties include ensuring alignment of curriculum resources with Student First Network instructional priorities and district expectations. Designs and develops daily standards-aligned lesson plans for Grades 6-10 that reflect Student First lesson architecture and support rigorous Tier I instruction. Creates daily slide decks aligned to lesson objectives and Demonstrations of Learning to support consistent instructional delivery across campuses. Develops Demonstrations of Learning (DoLs) aligned tightly to lesson objectives for the purpose of measuring student mastery within each instructional block. Designs formative and summative assessments, including checks for understanding, exit tickets, reteach tasks, and unit-level assessments aligned to Louisiana Student Standards and LEAP expectations. Ensures instructional materials reflect equitable access to grade-level content, differentiated supports, and structured opportunities for student discourse and engagement. Analyzes assessment guides, reporting categories, and Achievement Level Descriptors (ALDs) for the purpose of strengthening alignment between daily instruction and statewide assessments. Supports development of small-group intervention and acceleration materials aligned to student performance data. Collaborates with content supervisors and instructional leadership teams for the purpose of refining curriculum resources based on implementation feedback and student performance outcomes. Maintains curriculum documentation, pacing guidance, and instructional resources in shared district platforms. Participates in curriculum calibration meetings, professional learning sessions, and planning cycles aligned to Student First Network priorities. Implements current best practices in curriculum design and secondary instruction for the purpose of improving instructional coherence and student achievement outcomes. Models professional collaboration and responsiveness to feedback to support continuous improvement of district instructional materials. Participates in summer curriculum development sessions supported through stipend compensation. Performs other duties as assigned related to the functions of the position.
Essential Functions/Qualifications/Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required. Current Louisiana teacher certification. Demonstrated success in middle or high school instruction (Grades 6-10 preferred) Experience developing standards-aligned lessons, assessments, or curriculum resources strongly preferred Experience working with HQIM, LEAP-aligned instruction, or structured lesson architecture models preferred Work Environment Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
