Shape product quality from the first piece to final shipment
As a PCB Assembly Quality Assurance Inspector, you are the steady hand that keeps our builds on spec and our processes on track. Your day begins on the production floor, partnering with operators to verify machine set-ups and confirming that processes align with our quality management system (QMS). Throughout the shift, you perform in-process checks, finished-goods inspections, and audit activities, recording every result to the standards our QMS requires.
What your day looks like- Verify process and equipment set-ups at the start of runs; document verifications per QMS.
- Conduct manual inspections at incoming, in-process, and final stages to industry standards.
- Ensure workmanship meets applicable IPC criteria and internal specifications.
- Measure parts to specified dimensions and confirm alignment and fit.
- Use microscopes/magnification to identify surface and soldering defects.
- Compare incoming materials against drawings/print specifications.
- Review cable and harness assemblies against wiring diagrams; trace conductors to confirm routing and terminations.
- Examine PCB circuitry for shorts, opens, excess or missing solder, scratches, cracks, or layout errors.
- Assess joints, wires, and cables to locate solder defects.
- Inspect parts for chips, scratches, and pinholes.
- Perform first-piece inspections against bill of material (BOM) data.
- Approve completed repairs and re-inspect; involve the Production Manager and Quality Manager when appropriate.
- Coordinate in-process disposition of nonconforming material.
- Collaborate closely with production to provide timely feedback and support problem solving on nonconformities and other assignments from the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Hands-on expertise with IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD criteria.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 practices.
- Knowledge of PCB components and assembly processes.
- Comfort using 5 Why or similar root-cause techniques.
- Clear, constructive communication and strong interpersonal skills.
