Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting while floating across multiple locations within a specified region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, addressing a variety of medical conditions.
- Float to various facilities within a 60-mile radius.
- Participate in patient assessments, triage, and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor patient conditions and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
- Adhere to established protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience is required.
- Active and unrestricted RN license to practice in the relevant state.
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Schedule
Shifts are typically 12 hours in duration and will include weekends and holidays on an every-other basis. Scheduling follows a structured format, and employees are expected to be flexible and assist with any scheduling needs as required.
Orientation and Training
Clinical staff will undergo a comprehensive orientation lasting 2-3 days to familiarize themselves with unit-specific protocols and procedures.
Floating Requirements
Registered Nurses will be required to float within a defined zone, covering various facilities within a 60-mile radius.
Patient Care Environment
- Work in a diverse and dynamic patient care environment, treating a range of diagnoses including abdominal pain, stroke, trauma, and more.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity and facility standards.
- Collaboration with a team of nursing staff, support personnel, and physicians.
- Availability of respiratory therapy and diagnostic imaging support as necessary.
Additional Information
Travelers must plan for housing within the floating zone to fulfill contractual obligations. Missing more than three shifts during a 13-week contract is not permissible. A two-week notice is required to avoid penalties for contract withdrawal.
