Project Manager II – Commercial Construction

Minneapolis, MN | Milwaukee, WI | Direct Hire | $120,000 - $140,000 + bonus

Konik is partnering with an established specialty commercial construction organization seeking a Project Manager II to lead complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role will oversee large-scale projects involving structural steel, architectural systems, and specialty construction scopes while serving as a key point of contact for clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced commercial construction professional who enjoys managing challenging projects, collaborating with customers, and solving complex construction challenges. The successful candidate will have experience managing projects with significant scope, schedule, and budget responsibility and will be comfortable working across multiple stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial construction projects through planning, execution, and closeout while maintaining project scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, project stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, including fabrication milestones, submittals, installation timelines, and project deliverables.
• Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and customers to ensure projects progress efficiently.
• Manage project budgets, costs, commitments, change orders, and financial reporting.
• Review project changes and communicate cost and schedule impacts to customers.
• Lead project meetings, status updates, and problem-solving discussions.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change management, and project records.
• Partner with estimating and operations teams to support successful project execution.
• Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions to maintain project performance.
• Support and mentor less experienced project team members.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
• Experience managing complex commercial construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, budgeting, and project execution.
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and field teams.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with construction management software such as Procore and Bluebeam.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with structural steel, glazing, architectural metals, building envelope, or construction.
• Experience managing projects in the $10M–$30M+ range.
• Experience with supply/install, design-assist, or complex contract structures.
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience mentoring other project managers or project engineers.
