Utilities Crew Supervisor

Brunswick County Public Utility is currently accepting applications for a Utilities Crew Supervisor to join our Sewer Collections team. Classified as a Grade 4 Collection System by the NC Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), Brunswick County Public Utility provides wastewater (sewer) services to nearly 30,000 retail sewer customers and wholesale customers across a large service area. Our Public Utility team is committed to the community and takes a lot of pride in providing a high level of service to our customers every day. The Crew Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the work of mechanics and technicians involved in service tap installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and operations of the utility systems.

Work includes:

• performing specialized skilled work as related to the Brunswick County utility system and related appurtenances.
• preparing sketches and diagrams of proposed services and line repairs.
• overseeing, monitoring, and inspecting work of assigned crew.
• performing cost analysis and assisting in budget preparation.
• interpreting drawings and as-built plans.
• assigning and coordinating work orders for meter leaks, line breaks, utility line installations, pressure regulators, line flushing, etc.
• coordinating with Purchasing to acquire parts for operation and maintenance of the utility system.
• assisting with and resolving complaints from utility customers and the public.
• serving as the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) and/or Backup ORC for the designated water system.

The Crew Supervisor is also responsible for assisting with safety procedures and standard operating procedures, coordinating training required for maintenance personnel, and utilizing data from work-order software to assist in the preparation of a variety of reports and records related to the utility system. Excellent leadership skills, highly self-motivated, and the ability to work independently while exercising good judgement are required. This position reports directly to the Collections Superintendent.
