• Design, implement, and validate DSP algorithms and communications waveform capabilities.
• Translate models and simulations into efficient software running on target hardware.
• Improve transmitter and receiver processing, including modulation, demodulation, synchronization, filtering, and related communications functions.
• Optimize fixed-point processing, execution time, memory utilization, and multicore or multithreaded performance.
• Integrate software with processors, RF hardware, and FPGA implementations.
• Diagnose complex hardware/software issues and resolve performance and integration problems.
• Build automated tests, analysis tools, and repeatable validation workflows.
• Guide technical planning, architecture, design reviews, and engineering tradeoffs.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across disciplines to move challenging work forward.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience developing real-time embedded software in C and/or C++ .
• Demonstrated experience with DSP algorithm development and digital communications .
• Ability to translate algorithms into working embedded implementations and validate performance on target hardware.
• Experience with real-time operating systems, resource-constrained systems, and hardware/software integration.
• Practical experience debugging and optimizing embedded software for timing, memory, throughput, and reliability.
• Ability to lead technical work from requirements through integration and testing.
• Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
• One of the following education and experience combinations:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and at least 9 years of relevant experience.
• Graduate degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• At least 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience That Will Help You Stand Out

• Software-defined radio, waveform development, or digital transmitter/receiver processing.
• Modulation and demodulation, synchronization, carrier recovery, and channel estimation.
• Digital filtering, FFTs, spectral analysis, and multirate processing.
• Equalization, error correction, and communications performance analysis.
• Fixed-point optimization, multicore processing, and multithreading.
• MATLAB or Simulink for modeling, simulation, and validation.
• Python, NumPy, or SciPy for signal analysis, reference models, and automated testing.
• Embedded Linux, FPGA collaboration, GNU Radio, or SDR prototyping platforms.
• Git, code reviews, continuous integration, automated builds, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Additional interests in adaptive radio, spectrum awareness, AI/ML-assisted signal analysis, Rust, or software-defined networking are welcome. These complement the core embedded software and DSP requirements.

Location and Eligibility

• Must be able to work onsite full-time in Rochester, New York .
• U.S. citizenship is required under applicable government contract requirements.
• Must successfully complete the required background check.

Why This Role Stands Out
