Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience - BLS - ACLS - NIHSS Description: This facility is a licensed trauma center and teaching hospital. It offers services such as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center of Excellence. The unit consists of 14 private rooms, but does not have negative pressure capability. Patient types include those with heart failure, chest pain, and those needing fluid resuscitation or blood products. The patient ratio is typically 1:4-6, with surge times potentially increasing to 1:7-8, depending on acuity. The required skills include PIV starts, NG tube placement/management, pleurx drains, management of surgical drains, chest tube management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Support staff includes CNAs who assist with activities of daily living, bathing, and mobility. Phlebotomy is a combined effort between RNs and CNAs. Available technology includes an EMR system and IV pumps. Floating is possible within the designated region and scope of practice. Holiday expectations include working 75% of holidays. RTO requests can be approved for up to 6 days off, excluding holidays. The unit culture is professional and team-oriented.
