Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Digestive Health Procedures Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 9 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: DIGESTIVE HEALTH, ENDO RN Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to patients utilizing the nursing process and trends. Responsible for maintaining financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for the healthcare team. Completes initial assessments upon patient admission. Develops appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plans of care based on continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to address them. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Specific Job Functions: Prepares patients for procedures. Completes assessments, reviews health history, starts IVs, and provides education to patients. Monitors and sedates patients during their procedures. Cares for patients in both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery. Assists during cases requiring anesthesia involvement. Defines, directs, supervises, and evaluates patient care directly and via delegation, using the nursing process.
