Job Details Job ID: 5704071 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re‑Posted: May 15, 2026 Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Seasonal Salary: $6,729.13 to $11,856.10 stipend Job Description Assistant Coach for Girls Gymnastics, Varsity or Junior Varsity level, 2026‑2027 school year. Purpose Statement The role is to design and implement program activities in accordance with applicable rules and regulations related to gymnastics, supervise student athletes during all aspects of participation, use sound instructional techniques, serve as a positive role model to students, the community, and organizations, and support the Head Coach. Functions Analyze opposition strategies for game/event prior to and/or during athletic events to assess strengths and weaknesses and develop game plans. Assess student athletes to provide feedback on performance and determine team placement. Attend meetings, workshops, conferences to receive and convey information related to the role. Develop components of game strategies/plans as requested by Head Coach to prepare the team and individual athletes for competition. Evaluate facilities and playing fields for hazards, inadequate equipment, and implement modifications to reduce injury risk. Instruct student athletes to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Maintain records (game statistics, insurance, permission forms, schedules, equipment inventories, etc.) to comply with district, conference, and state requirements. Monitor academic eligibility of student athletes to comply with IHSA requirements and provide interventions as needed. Promote the athletic program by conducting off‑season clinics, sharing information on skill camps, and attending community meetings. Respond to inquiries from students, parents, school personnel, media, and college representatives to provide information and assistance. Supervise student athletes in all participation areas (competition, travel, meetings, practices) to ensure a safe environment. Support other staff (Head Coach, other coaches, volunteers) in performing their roles and functions. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective operation. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required skills include adapting to changing priorities, administering first aid, applying pertinent laws and policies, organizing and communicating information. Knowledge of equipment, injury prevention, IHSA concussion protocols, eligibility guidelines, public relations protocols, professional standards, and safety practices is required. Abilities include scheduling, data collection, operating equipment, leadership, confidentiality, meeting deadlines, modeling sportsmanship, motivating athletes, enforcing discipline, traveling to off‑campus events, and working extended hours.
