New Business Construction Underwriter

Role Description This is an exciting opportunity to join our expert-led Allianz Commercial team as a New Business Construction Underwriter, playing a key role in delivering profitable growth. You will support the development of a world-class, multi-niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets. Location: This role is based in either our Southampton or Chelmsford offices, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 2-3 days per week, as well as meeting with brokers. Salary Information Pay: Circa £50,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package. About You Underwrite construction risks across new business to meet growth and profitability targets Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the market Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings Essential Skills Experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers Strong ability to underwrite new business effectively Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with brokers and negotiating outcomes Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex risks and market conditions Commercial awareness with a focus on profitable growth and retention Self-motivated team player with the ability to support and mentor others Desirable Skills Proactive and driven with a strong focus on personal and professional development Ability to take initiative and contribute positively within a team environment Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage What We Will Offer You Recognised and rewarded for a job well done, we have a range of flexible benefits for you to choose from- so you can pick a package that’s perfect for you.
