Description

American Traveler is hiring an Oncology RN for an inpatient medical/oncology unit requiring 2 years of experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical floor specializing in palliative care and oncology within a Level II Trauma Center
• Patient population includes COPD, diabetic, cellulitis, pancreatitis, sickle cell, oncology, and respite/hospice cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within medical assignment scope and to the ED for medical holds
• Uses Epic EMR
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, oncology experience preferred
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, accessing and managing ports, and administration of blood and blood products
• PICC line care and IV starting/maintenance skills required
• Experience administering antibiotics, antiemetics, and corticosteroids
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and neutropenic precautions
• Pain management and medication tolerance/dependence assessment skills
• Psychosocial care and patient/family education and support skills
• Current Nursys report and all required certifications must be submitted for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide inpatient oncology and palliative care to a diverse medical patient population
• Support includes staff-only chemotherapy administration and blood transfusions
• Holiday RTO must be pre-approved, and no Christmas RTO will be approved
• RTO requests beyond 7 days require an equivalent extension of the assignment
• All time off requests must be included at the time of consideration
• Block schedule accommodations may be available at manager's discretion
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• Up to 8 hours of pre-start modules required within one week of signing
• Previous travelers must have a one-year separation from this healthcare system before returning
