Our client, a growing organization in the non-profit space located in Downtown Houston, is seeking a Staff Accountant on a contract-to-hire basis. This opportunity comes at an exciting time as the accounting team prepares to take on a newly acquired entity , creating strong long-term growth potential for the right individual.

This is a fully on-site role with a collaborative team environment, where each accountant owns their respective entities while working closely together as a group.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting for assigned entities
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Support month-end close , including reconciliations and journal entries
• Handle grant billing activities and reporting
• Process and manage HUD and government billing requirements
• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online and Excel
• Assist with transitioning newly acquired entities into internal accounting processes

2–3+ years of accounting experience (non-profit experience strongly preferred)

Hands-on experience with:

• Full-cycle accounting
• AP/AR
• Grant accounting/billing
• Government or HUD billing (highly preferred)

Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Adaptable, collaborative, and professional demeanor

No degree required

Work Environment & Culture

• All team members are on-site daily (parking provided)
• Each accountant is responsible for their own entities but works closely with the broader team

• Team participates in distribution efforts every 3rd Saturday
