IRF PAI Coordinator

HCA Doctors Hospital of Augusta is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IRF PAI Coordinator to support our Inpatient Rehabilitation program. This role is vital to ensuring the accuracy of patient assessments, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and appropriate reimbursement while helping patients achieve their highest level of function and independence.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, experience in inpatient rehabilitation, and a thorough understanding of documentation and regulatory requirements within an IRF setting.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The IRF PAI Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, completing, and submitting the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) in accordance with CMS regulations and organizational standards. Working collaboratively with physicians, nursing, therapy, case management, and leadership teams, this position ensures accurate clinical documentation, supports quality initiatives, and promotes compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

What you will do in this role:

  • Coordinate the completion, review, and submission of all IRF-PAI assessments within required regulatory timeframes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to obtain and validate patient assessment data.
  • Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with CMS guidelines.
  • Ensure appropriate coding and documentation to support reimbursement and quality reporting initiatives.
  • Monitor and communicate regulatory changes affecting IRF-PAI requirements and rehabilitation documentation standards.
  • Educate clinical staff on documentation requirements and best practices.
  • Conduct audits and quality reviews to identify opportunities for improvement and promote compliance.
  • Track and report quality indicators, functional outcomes, and performance metrics.
  • Assist with survey readiness and support accreditation and regulatory activities.
  • Serve as a clinical resource regarding rehabilitation assessment processes and regulatory requirements.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Associate degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Therapy, Healthcare Administration, or a related healthcare field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, case management, utilization review, quality management, or related healthcare setting preferred.
  • Previous experience with IRF-PAI, rehabilitation documentation, MDS, utilization management, or quality programs strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMS regulations, IRF Prospective Payment System (PPS), rehabilitation quality measures, and documentation standards preferred.
