Part-time Assistant Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

Responsibilities The part‑time assistant coach for men’s and women’s Tennis is responsible for assisting the head coaches in implementing and directing all phases of a competitive NCAA DivisionIII men’s and women’s Tennis program at DePauw University. This includes recruiting quality student‑athletes, organizing and planning practices and game strategies, scouting, coaching, scheduling, budgeting, and planning team travel in compliance with University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Understand and comply with NCAA DivisionIII, conference, and University rules and regulations. Demonstrate sportsmanship and ethical conduct. Show sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to a diverse community. Along with the head coach, implement and execute a comprehensive recruiting plan for the identification and recruitment of qualified student‑athletes, and maintain an acceptable roster per the University. Develop and implement plans and strategies for practices and competition that result in athletic success. Mentor student‑athletes to ensure athletic and academic success. At the head coach’s direction, make transportation and lodging arrangements for team travel. Administer a fiscally sound athletics program. Evaluate program effectiveness. Monitor student‑athletes’ academic progression. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or head coaches. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree highly preferred. Experience: Collegiate playing experience in tennis highly desirable. Certifications: Certification in first aid/CPR/AED required by the first day of appointment and must be maintained throughout the appointment. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, Google Apps, Teamworks and other programs as determined by specific sport responsibilities. Other Requirements: Excellent communication skills; Commitment to and history of strong belief in mentoring students and demonstrated experience working with young adults; Desire to work in a rural, small‑school environment devoted to providing liberal arts education, building community, and helping students prepare for their future careers.
