Job Description Job Description This Certified Surgical Technologist – CVOR position is based in Salem, Virginia at a 500+ bed acute care hospital with specialized programs in heart and vascular care, orthopedics and spine, behavioral health, and oncology, including a designated Heart Center featuring advanced cardiac technology.
The role. The CST will work within the cardiovascular operating room, scrubbing C-sections and demonstrating proficiency with surgical instrumentation throughout those procedures. The technologist supports infant testing and related tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse, registers and pre-registers obstetric patients, and processes patient information accurately. Maintaining the integrity of the physical environment and equipment is a consistent expectation, as is clear and professional communication with clinical and non-clinical staff throughout the facility.
What were looking for.
Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program required (or grandfathered status recognized by the State of Virginia)
Active Surgical Technician license in the State of Virginia required
BLS certification required; must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
Knowledge of medical terminology required
1–2 years of scrub or hospital experience preferred; previous surgical tech experience preferred
OR Techs will be considered
Ability to frequently stand, bend, reach, squat, kneel, and lift patients or equipment up to 50 pounds
Schedule. Full-time, days with rotating weekends; shifts run either 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.
Compensation. $24.87 - $29.85/hr
