Solid Waste Operator

The City of Visalia Public Works Department is recruiting for Solid Waste Operator. This position operates a refuse truck and collects solid waste on an assigned residential or commercial route.

The City of Visalia's Solid Waste Division is part of the Public Works Department. The Solid Waste Division serves the Public and other City Departments by providing Solid Waste and Recycling Services for the City of Visalia. Solid Waste offers services for both commercial businesses and residential customers.

This position will require a California Class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement. Candidates will have the ability to follow oral and written directions, develop and maintain effective working relationships as well as operate refuse loader trucks on public roads and/or in residential neighborhoods. They will also understand and follow a map for assigned routes and work independently in the field with minimal supervision.

The Solid Waste Division is looking for someone who is safety minded, a team player, willing to adapt to industry changes and adjustments, coachable, and makes an effort to contribute to the betterment of the Division to serve the citizens and businesses within the City of Visalia.

• Two (2) years of truck driving or refuse truck driving experience.

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class B with airbrake endorsement.
