It handles the most complex cases in Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, and Foster Care/Adoption. The role operates with a high degree of independence, seeking supervisory input only in unusually difficult situations.Key ResponsibilitiesManage complex, high-difficulty social work cases across CPS, APS, and Foster Care/Adoption programsProvide guidance, mentorship, and consultation to junior staff; act in a supervisory capacity when the supervisor is absentDevelop and deliver training for staff, interns, and community professionals; supervise social work internsConduct home visits, home studies, family partnership meetings, and family finding activitiesAdminister assessments, provide crisis intervention, and develop individualized service plansProvide court testimony and prepare court reports, home studies, and evaluationsCoordinate with multi-disciplinary and interagency teams; monitor program compliance and expendituresProvide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies; participate in emergency shelter setup as neededQualificationsMinimum Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field (or any Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of relevant human services experience)Experience in a leadership role; considerable experience in the assigned program areaBSW/MSW and a Virginia Social Work license are preferredValid driver's license with a safe driving record required; must reside within a 1-hour commute of Winchester within 90 daysBilingual English–Spanish preferredEach agency within the Commonwealth of Virginia is dedicated to recruiting, supporting, and maintaining a competent and diverse work force.
