On-Call Field Archaeologist

Opportunity WSP's Cultural Resources Management Team has immediate opening for an On-Call Field Archaeologist for a Phase III archaeological data recovery project at five multi-component Pre-Contact archaeological sites. The sites are close together and contain components from the Late Archaic through the Late Pre-Contact periods. Position type: On‑call, hourly . Hourly rates are industry competitive based on North American CRM experience and regional archaeological experience. Candidates local to Arkansas, Missouri, eastern Oklahoma, and eastern Kansas are preferred, but all qualified applicants will be considered. Ongoing Phase I, II and III work in other states will provide additional opportunities. Assist with multiple Phase III data recovery projects (including Phase I and II work) Conduct archaeological test unit and shovel test excavation Excavate cultural features Recover and identify archaeological artifacts and other materials Use field forms to record data, including artifact type and number, soil color (Munsell), soil texture, and other relevant information Work effectively as part of a team Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Strictly abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies Minimum Qualifications Undergraduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field Archaeological field school or similar field experience Self‑motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of field work in all weather conditions, and able to follow instructions Additional / Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with Pre‑Contact archaeological sites in Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and the surrounding region Pre‑Contact lithic artifact identification and analysis Equal Opportunity Employer WSP USA (and all of its U.S. companies) is an Equal Opportunity Employer Race/Age/Color/Religion/Sex/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/National Origin/Disability or Protected Veteran Status.
