Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll experience, sound judgment, and leadership qualities, along with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. This individual must be able to work effectively within a diverse team environment while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly production payroll, ensuring compliance with company policies, certified payroll requirements, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Review and verify imported hours worked, pay rate changes, and payroll adjustments for weekly production payroll
Implement and administer company pay policies
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports
Report certified payroll to appropriate customer representatives
Ensure accuracy of employee withholdings and deductions
Process and report unemployment documentation for employees on seasonal layoff
Assist in resolving payroll-related issues in a professional, timely, and solution-oriented manner
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and company operations
Oversee day-to-day 401(k) administration, including ERISA compliance
Prepare and file payroll tax returns
Qualifications & Experience
35 years of payroll accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry
Strong understanding of certified payroll and multi-state payroll compliance
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work effectively under strict deadlines
Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
Outstanding organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage increasing responsibilities
Demonstrated thorough and logical follow-through on assignments and projects
Strong investigative and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
