Position Summary

The Structural Infrastructure Assessment & Capital Project Development Consultant is responsible for evaluating the condition, risk, and operational impact of structural infrastructure across a network of manufacturing facilities. The consultant will identify facility improvement opportunities, prioritize needs based on risk and business impact, and develop project scopes and budget estimates to support capital planning and funding decisions. This role serves as the organization's structural subject matter expert during the early stages of project development. The consultant is not responsible for detailed engineering design, preparation of sealed construction documents, project execution, construction management, or contractor oversight. Projects developed through this role will be transitioned to Regional Engineering Directors and plant or corporate engineering teams for funding approval and execution.

Key Responsibilities

· Conduct field assessments of facility structural systems, including roofing systems, walls, foundations, floors, concrete structures, structural steel, loading areas, doors, building envelopes, and related infrastructure.

· Evaluate asset condition, operational risk, regulatory considerations, and business impact to identify repair, replacement, and capital improvement opportunities.

· Develop risk-based prioritization of structural infrastructure needs within facilities and across the manufacturing network.

· Create project definition packages with sufficient detail for engineering firms and contractors to develop proposals and bids.

· Prepare conceptual project scopes, budget estimates, and project justifications to support capital planning.

· Provide structural assessment support for utility and operational improvement projects where building conditions may affect installation feasibility, including rooftop evaporators, boilers, refrigeration equipment, mezzanines, and other facility infrastructure projects.

· Identify structural constraints, risks, and engineering requirements needed to advance projects toward execution.

· Coordinate with stakeholders to support project development activities.

· Develop project definition packages suitable for handoff to Regional Engineering Directors and project execution teams.

Expected Deliverables

· Site structural assessment reports.

· Facility condition evaluations and risk assessments.

· Risk-based prioritization of infrastructure needs within and across facilities.

· Capital project pipeline recommendations.

· Preliminary scope definition packages suitable for contractor and engineering firm bidding.

· Preliminary cost estimates and budget forecasts.

· Structural feasibility assessments supporting utility and process equipment installations.

· Handoff-ready project development packages.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline.

· Minimum five years of relevant experience.

· Ability to evaluate structural deficiencies and develop project scopes and estimates.

· Working knowledge of building codes and structural systems.

· Ability to travel approximately 75% to manufacturing facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

· Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure.

· Facility condition assessment and capital infrastructure planning experience.

· Food manufacturing experience is beneficial but not required. Familiarity with operational, sanitation, and regulatory considerations common to food manufacturing facilities is preferred.

Work Environment

· Approximately 70% or more of the role will be spent in manufacturing facilities conducting assessments.

· Industrial environment exposure and approximately 75% travel required.
