ASCP Nutrition Services Specialist

Job Summary: Join a dedicated team focused on delivering exceptional nutritional services that enhance patient mealtime experiences. This role involves providing physician-ordered nutrition support while respecting individual dietary preferences and ensuring accurate menu handling. Key Responsibilities: Call Center Specialist: Efficiently obtain and process meal orders from patients and visitors via telephone, ensuring orders align with dietary requirements. Maintain accurate electronic records and coordinate with production and tray line teams. Serve as a liaison between nutrition services and nursing units, addressing patient concerns with empathy and professionalism. Room Service Specialist: Professionally serve meals, assist patients with meal ordering systems, and assess their ability to participate. Communicate effectively with nursing staff and dietitians, monitor patient needs, and document calorie counts. Manage pantry supplies and support diabetic patients during meal delivery. Expeditor: Oversee meal assembly on the tray line, verify order accuracy, and ensure timely delivery to nursing units. Maintain food quality and safety standards, replenish supplies, and guide staff to uphold patient satisfaction. Operate cooking equipment safely and follow recipes and plating guidelines. Food Service Starter: Initiate meal assembly, place condiments and cold foods according to tray tickets, and check food acceptability. Maintain sanitation and nutritional quality of food items, communicate with team members, and assist with meal delivery and cleanup tasks. Prepare between-meal nourishment and support pantry order fulfillment. Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in nutrition services or food service within a healthcare setting is beneficial. Work Environment: This full-time position operates on the 2nd shift, serving patients in a regional healthcare facility located in the Midwest United States.
