Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory care and possess the necessary credentials to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Establish patient ventilator settings utilizing metric measurements and advanced principles of volume, flow, pressure, and time relationships.
Monitor and assess patients' respiratory status and response to therapy.
Administer prescribed respiratory therapy procedures, medications, and treatments.
Document patient care activities in the electronic medical record system, Meditech.
Educate patients and their families about respiratory therapies and home care practices.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Graduate of an AMA-accredited school for Respiratory Care.
Current New York State respiratory therapy license.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.
Strong knowledge of acid/base and electrolyte relationships, with the ability to recognize life-threatening situations.

Work Environment

This position involves a day shift schedule from 7 AM to 7 PM over an 8-week assignment. Flexibility and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment are essential.
