Road Construction Equipment OperatorLee County is seeking a dependable Road Construction Equipment Operator to join our Roadway Construction team. This is a hands-on, outdoor position for someone who enjoys physical work, operating equipment, solving problems, and seeing the results of their efforts every day.As part of our roadway construction crew, you will help build, repair, and maintain the roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems that keep residents, visitors, and businesses moving safely throughout Lee County.If you take pride in quality work, enjoy working as part of a team, and want a stable career serving your community, this opportunity may be a great fit.Duties and ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll DoThis is an active field position involving both equipment operation and skilled manual labor. Responsibilities include:Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, rollers, concrete saws, chipping hammers, and other construction equipmentInstall, replace, and repair drainage pipes, catch basins, and related roadway systemsBuild and repair sidewalks, driveways, and sod areasLoad dump trucks and pickup trucks with trailersMix and place concrete for sidewalk repairsSet up and maintain Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) work zonesGrind uneven sidewalks and improve pedestrian safetyClear trees, brush, and debris from roadway areasRemove debris from catch basins and clean pipe ends by handPerform repairs in tight spaces, including basin and manhole workUse hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safelyWork independently while supporting a team focused on safety and qualityEducation, Experience, LicensingWhat We're Looking ForSuccessful candidates will have:High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceOne (1) year of experience operating heavy equipment or performing similar construction workAbility to perform manual labor tasks associated with roadway construction, including lifting, carrying, standing, walking, and operating equipment.Ability to follow safety procedures and work in a safety-sensitive environmentAbility to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment safelyAbility to communicate effectively and work well with team membersAbility to work outdoors in changing weather conditionsCommercial Driver License (CDL) RequirementsCandidates must obtain a Florida Class B Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) before applying for this position.Candidates with an out-of-state Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must obtain a Florida-issued CDL within sixty (60) days of relocating to Florida.The CLP is the first step toward obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
