Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Summary As an HSE Specialist, you will play a critical role in elevating safety performance at the Tipton manufacturing site by partnering closely with site leadership to build a proactive, high-impact safety culture. This role is accountable for advancing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs beyond compliance, ensuring that corporate standards are fully embedded into daily operations while driving measurable improvements in workplace safety and risk mitigation. Responsibilities Partner with site leadership to implement and sustain a proactive safety culture aligned with corporate HSE standards. Execute advanced HSE programs that go beyond regulatory compliance and support overall site performance goals. Lead and support site assessments tied to QHSE audits, ensuring clear understanding of current state and gaps. Drive key safety deliverables including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), hazard identification completion, and safety program execution. Support implementation and adoption of Stop Work Authority and other critical safety initiatives across the site. Deliver and facilitate HSE training programs to build capability and awareness across all levels of the organization. Collaborate cross-functionally to influence safe behaviors and ensure alignment with company safety objectives. Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor (minimum ~50%) to reinforce safety practices and engage employees directly. Qualifications Required University degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Fire Science, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment roles. Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably heavy manufacturing or construction-related settings. HSE certification or equivalent credentials Strong knowledge of HSE systems and tools Ability to develop and deliver training programs across diverse audiences. Preferred 5+ years of HSE experience in complex industrial environments Experience with safety software platforms such as VelocityEHS, MSDS Online, or similar systems Exposure to molding or specialized manufacturing processes Strong influencing skills and ability to lead without direct authority Engaging and approachable communication style across all organizational levels Self-starter mindset with a solutions-oriented approach to problem solving Ability to build trust and operate effectively as a collaborative, servant leader Why Join Mattr?
