Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
• Emergency department, emergency room, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
• Demonstrated ability to assess, prioritize, and care for patients with varying levels of acuity
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Willingness to work 12-hour day shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
• Ability to complete required credentialing, competency validation, and compliance requirements

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments for emergency department patients
• Prioritize nursing care based on patient acuity and changing clinical conditions
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to orders and established protocols
• Monitor patient responses and promptly communicate changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare team
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate timely patient care
• Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Support a safe, organized, and efficient emergency department environment
