Payroll Assistant

Role Description This position is responsible for providing payroll and administrative support, including weekly payroll processing, data entry, reporting, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently while meeting required deadlines. This position requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to review work for completeness and accuracy. Responsibilities Process weekly union payroll accurately and within required deadlines Review new hires and employee changes in payroll system Review employee records, timecards, pay rates, deductions, and payroll information for accuracy and completeness Maintain confidentiality of payroll records and privacy of sensitive employee information Prepare monthly union reports and related payments accurately and within required deadlines Complete payroll tax payments Communicate effectively with employees and project stakeholders Assist with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and other required payroll reporting Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and identify potential errors prior to payroll processing Perform administrative tasks as needed Requirements Experience with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) is preferred; experience with other payroll systems will be considered Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook; ability to learn and effectively use payroll and accounting software Understanding of general accounting principles Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently review work for accuracy and maintain confidentiality Good written and verbal communication skills Understanding of payroll concepts, including gross pay, overtime, taxes, deductions, and employee benefits Previous payroll, accounting, or related experience preferred Experience with union or construction payroll is preferred but not required Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet recurring payroll deadlines Ability to work independently and as part of a team Compensation Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications Health Insurance (fully paid for employee) #J-18808-Ljbffr
