Truck and Equipment Mechanic (Emporia Virginia) Performs maintenance in all service trucks and diesel heavy equipment, specializes in repairing, maintaining, and inspecting large vehicles, such as trucks, buses, dirt equipment and trailers. Truck mechanics are responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy diesel vehicles, such as trucks and buses, with duties ranging from performing routine services to building complete engine. Truck mechanics assure safe vehicle operations on the road by expertly diagnosing problems with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. specializes in repairing, maintaining, and inspecting big vehicles, such as trucks, buses, and trailers. Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine In-depth knowledge of gas and diesel engine components and operational mechanisms Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools Must be knowledge in computer systems and other relevant electronics Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software A valid driver's license Good interpersonal skills Effective collaboration and communication skills Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision. Qualifications: Minimum of four (4) years or more as Journeyman heavy duty Mechanic. Must be able to maintain record of serviced equipment and trucks. Must be able to run diagnostic teste on heavy equipment and trucks. Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on service heavy equipment and all trucks. Must be able to maintain inventory of all equipment parts. General knowledge of basic hand tools. Must be able to complete the NCCER certification for your craft. Must be able to complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program. Physical Requirements: Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision. Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
