Executive Director

UNC Charlotte is hiring an Executive Director. The role involves providing strategic leadership to enhance the university’s research ecosystem, expanding external funding, supporting faculty and postdoctoral research success, managing research proposal development programs, and overseeing communications and reporting within the Division of Research. Highlights Lead strategic research development and engagement initiatives aligned with the university’s research mission. Facilitate and direct non-budget proposal development, mentor faculty, and build a community of practice for research development. Provide data-driven insights and reporting on research activity and funding trends to guide leadership decision-making. Oversee communications and engagement efforts across the research community via multiple channels including newsletters and events. Manage unit operations including staffing, budgeting, program development, and performance assessment. Serve as a senior leadership team member within the Division of Research, sharing best practices to improve research support. Requires advanced degree in a relevant research discipline and over 5 years of experience in proposal or research development. Preferred qualifications include a doctorate, strong interpersonal and writing skills, experience in academic proposal development, and familiarity with various research methodologies. Collaborate with academic units, library, and the Center for Advancing Faculty Success to expand the research portfolio. The role includes overseeing programs such as limited submissions, internal seed grants, Complex, Large, or Interdisciplinary Proposal Program (CLIPP), faculty research training, and the postdoctoral fellows program. #J-18808-Ljbffr
