Position Summary

The Safety and Occupational Health Specialist supports GSA's national safety program by providing expert guidance, policy interpretation, and oversight across a nationwide portfolio. This role serves as a subject matter expert in occupational safety, compliance, and risk management while supporting inspections, training, and program development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on occupational safety, hazard control, and regulatory compliance
• Serve as SME across safety areas including construction, electrical, fall protection, PPE, and hazard analysis
• Conduct inspections, investigations, and risk assessments; develop corrective action plans
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures
• Review construction and project plans to ensure safety compliance
• Develop and deliver safety policies, guidance, and training programs
• Support national safety program tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement
• Represent GSA in meetings with agencies, regulators, and stakeholders
• Maintain safety data, records, and compliance with federal standards

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in occupational safety and health
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and compliance frameworks
• Ability to analyze hazards, interpret technical documents, and recommend solutions
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

• Professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM)
• Experience with construction safety and complex facility environments
