Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary-level, in-person summer program. This contract role is perfect for educators passionate about helping young learners thrive. The Extended School Year program runs for six weeks, from June 29th to August 7th, Monday through Friday (excluding July 4th), with a convenient morning schedule from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Located near Wayne, NJ, this position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact over the summer months.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification in Special Education (appropriate for elementary grade levels)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, especially those with special needs
- Strong classroom management and organization skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to various learning styles and individualized needs
- Positive, patient, and collaborative attitude with students, staff, and families
- Previous experience in a school or camp setting is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, tailored instruction to elementary students with diverse learning needs
- Develop and implement lesson plans that foster growth and academic progress
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and program coordinators to best support each student
- Monitor student progress, adjust strategies as needed, and communicate updates to families
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and confidence
- Maintain compliance with program policies and all necessary documentation requirements
