Why this role matters Turn customer, insurance and operating problems into clear, validated and shippable product increments, owning product quality from discovery through release learning. Working closely with a Founding Engineering Lead, the two founders and users, you will own product intent and quality from discovery through release learning - not simply manage a backlog. What you will make happen Own product direction and ship useful increments: Translate company priorities into a focused roadmap and thin vertical slices that solve real user and operating problems. Make product intent implementation-ready: Define workflows, requirements, examples, edge cases and acceptance criteria clearly enough for fast, safe delivery. Protect product quality and user trust: Own product QA, adoption and release learning; jointly approve release readiness and prevent product-wrong or unclear outcomes. Build a high-throughput product system: Use prototypes, AI-supported workflows, reusable standards and fast feedback to reduce ambiguity, lead time and avoidable rework. Build product capability and the product-engineering duo: Create shared context, constructive challenge and scalable standards with Engineering, founders, users and future team members. What you will own User problems, functional intent and prioritisation within agreed objectives; approve product release readiness jointly with Engineering; elevate strategic, regulatory, customer-risk or material-investment decisions. You will work closely with founding Engineering Lead; the two founders; underwriting, claims, client and operations users; clients, brokers and external partners. What you bring B2B SaaS product discovery and leadership Workflow, UX and lightweight prototyping Requirements, acceptance criteria and product QA Prioritisation across value, feasibility, risk and learning Technical literacy and AI-supported product delivery How you work: Turns ambiguity into clear choices; obsesses over the user problem, not the backlog How you work: Challenges directly, then commits jointly; uses ai and automation without outsourcing judgement We care more about evidence of outcomes, judgement and learning than a perfectly linear career or identical previous title. You do not need to match every line to apply. The working reality You will operate without a large design, research, analytics or delivery organisation around you. The domain is complex and regulated, and speed matters. You must know when a thin solution is enough and when trust, data or control requires more care. This is unlikely to suit someone who mainly wants to manage stakeholders and roadmaps, delegates detailed definition and QA, or needs mature product processes to be effective.
